Early 2026

Please watch this page for upcoming engagement opportunities to learn about the next phase of the project, review the schematic design, and provide your input!

Earlier this year, we completed geotechnical work necessary to assess soil conditions critical to the design and construction of the new pedestrian bridge.

    Anticipated Impact

As the design is developed, more information will be shared about anticipated impacts to the project site. The current assumption is that the current bridge will remain in place, and the new bridge will be built adjacent to it. Demolition of the existing bridge is planned for after the new one is open, which will limit the potential impact on beach access.

    Project Description

This project will replace the Carkeek Park Railroad Overpass Pedestrian Bridge, which was originally built in 1955. This bridge connects the rest of Carkeek Park and the beach on the western side of the railroad tracks.
