Fall 2025
Aquatic Center and Play Area Public Meetings
Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is excited to invite community members to hear updates on the planning and design for a brand new state-of-the-art pool at Green Lake to be built next to the existing community center. The new facility will greatly expand recreation opportunities by offering a lap pool, a second recreation pool, a party room, and an updated outdoor playground.
The main focus of this round of public engagement is to update community members on the project and the new approach of building a new pool, and to gather input on the play area design. We anticipate having more opportunities for you to provide feedback on elements of the aquatic center and community center rebuild design in future meetings planned for 2026. Project Description
This project focuses on modernizing the existing Green Lake Community Center, Evans Pool and play area. The project has two primary components:
Develop New Aquatics Center
A brand-new pool building will be located northeast of the existing community center. The new pool facility will greatly expand recreation opportunities by offering a lap pool, a second recreation pool, a community room, and an updated outdoor playground.
Rebuild Existing Community Center
We plan to rebuild the existing community center and historic Evans Pool building by completing major renovations. The creation of the new aquatics center will allow the current Evans Pool building to be repurposed for community center use. Planning and design for the existing community center buildings will begin in early 2026.
The project represents a historic investment of over $36 million in the well-loved Green Lake Community Center, creating a cohesive campus for community gatherings and recreation that will serve the community for decades to come.
