Spring 2026
The Magnolia Community Center Advisory Council (MCCAC) has raised $11,381 and received $37,930 from a grant from the Neighborhood Matching fund for design services.
Grindline Skateparks was chosen as the contractor for the Design phase of the project with a projected cost of $43,375. The contract is expected to be awarded in the next couple of weeks as soon as the work statement is clarified and agreed to by the Magnolia skatepark team, Seattle Parks and Grindline. The estimated completion date for the design phase is December 2026.
Before the fundraising phase, the project team presented a detailed location and site analysis along with a preliminary conceptual design, which was approved through Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR).
During the initial phase of the project, the MCCAC partnered with Grindline Skateparks to develop preliminary concepts with funding from the Neighborhood Matching Fund. The size of the skate park (“Skate Dot”) is up to 1500 sq. ft. in keeping with the 2007 Citywide Skatepark Plan.
Project Description
The Design phase of the project will provide 100% Construction Documents and all Civil Engineering work statement to establish a “permit ready” Design.
The skate park is currently envisioned to be a multi-use facility compatible with skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, tricycles, and bicycles. The skate park will be targeted towards beginner and intermediate skill levels and will provide the neighborhood kids with a safe and healthy outdoor activity.
It will be located within Magnolia Playfield, and a preferred location was identified during the Concept Phase of the Process during two community meetings. A final Community meeting will be held this spring to solidify the design and location prior to detail design beginning.
