Purpose

This plan will inform Seattle Parks and Recreation’s approach to park development, access, improvement, and maintenance carried out between the years of 2028 to 2034.

The last Parks and Open Space Plan(POSP) was adopted in 2024 (see below for link to 2024 POSP). It was intended to only be a minor update of the 2017 plan to comply with regulatory and funding requirements. This approach was pursued for two reasons:

1. To coordinate this comprehensive planning effort with the Park District Levy Financial Plan effort for the 2028-2032 Park District Levy funding cycle and all subsequent cycles.

2. Allow for the One Seattle comprehensive plan update to be adopted and therefore inform future POSPs.
